Oh, Trindade…

Trindade. Pronounced with a soft and seductive Brazilian Portuguese ‘g’ – “Trin-dodge”. A small village on Brazil’s Costa Verde, about 20 miles south of Paraty, Trindade is known for its beautiful beaches. We only made it to one – Praia do Meio. The original plan was to hire a taxi boat and hop from Sono, Brava, Cepilho, along with a not-to-be-missed visit to Piscina do Cachadaço – a natural pool formed from volcanic stones that’s full of tropical fish. And all of this beach-hopping was to occur after we’d spent the better part of our day exploring the Gold Trail. Such ambitious plans. But you know how plans go when you’re traveling – out the door!

So instead, we spent the entire time at Praia do Meio trying to decide if we should brave the dead-of-winter chill and take a dip, or if we should just settle for a barefoot beach stroll. The icy water decided for us, and stroll we did.

Though grateful for the chance to visit Praia do Meio, in the end, I felt shafted by the short amount of time we had to spend in Trindade. So I’ve added Trindade back to my Brazilian wishlist of places to visit and explore – next time, in the summer season. But until then, I’ll keep these images forever etched in my memory…

Where have you been that you’ve added back to your wishlist of places to explore in more depth?
